OUR HISTORY - THE ABBREVIATED VERSION
Jerry and Andy formed Peisner Johnson & Company in 1992 to allow them to focus on state and local sales and use taxes. Andy and Jerry met while they both held management positions at Arthur Andersen. Between the two, they have over 40 years experience in the tax consulting arena. Their combined skills and interests form a great partnership in which they complement each other.
Jerry's first job out of school was as an auditor for the state of Texas. He learned the ins and outs of how the state worked. The firm also benefits greatly from Jerry's technological talent, which assists the firm to build specialized databases for effective refund tracking and filing with various states and multiple vendors. Jerry has designed extensive databases to assist our staff in providing a more efficient and effective refund process.
His knowledge of sales and use tax issues combined with this technological ability provides the partnership with a sought-after attribute that attracts many clients. Jerry's expertise provides a solid base for the entire staff to access and master. Read Jerry's Bio.
Andy's passion for research enables our firm to focus on refund possibilities that may not have been found by previous consultants. Andy accents this skill with a talent for presenting creative tax minimization strategies that gives Peisner Johnson clients alternatives to their current methods. He spreads this ability to the staff, training each person to recognize potential

We Work on a Contingency
Basis
In keeping with our "best ideas, greatest value" belief, PJCo
in many circumstances, will offer to operate on a contingency basis. Other times we work on an hourly basis, but only when we can generate more value than we cost. We are so confident in our ability to reduce your tax liability that we will often work for FREE until your recovered tax dollars are put back in your business. This all means there is little risk in doing business with PJCo whether we work on a straight percentage basis or on an hourly basis.
We Work Strategically And Independently
Our staff is highly trained and skilled to strategically approach each project with a high regard for our clients' time.
We make it our business to cause no disruption and most of the time we need little to no involvement on the part of our clients' staff. Our goal is to get our work

Educating Our Clients
Our staff of accountants and other team members are taught to educate while they interact with clients. We always say: "If we can answer a question off the top of our head, we'll do it for free." Many of our clients pay us to train their people on a regular basis. We believe an educated client is our best customer.

WHY WAS PJCO CREATED ?
While working at Arthur Andersen, Andy and Jerry decided state and local tax consulting was something they could do even more effectively
on their own. Of course they were given little hope
for success. But they have managed to grow their firm from two to twenty. PJCo is not the biggest CPA firm in the world. They never intended it to be the biggest.
Once you have at least 15 people you can handle any engagement out there. Having too many people
can make it difficult to focus on the work as
opposed to focusing on HR issues. Doing quality work is what has allowed us to grow to the size we have, and it is what will cause us to grow in a controlled fashion in the future.

By creating PJCo, Jerry and Andy knew that they could implement all the best ideas and the best services that provide only the greatest value to their customers. This unique approach is the reason why PJCo's client retention has to be one of the highest in the industry.

They also knew that for the "best ideas, greatest value" approach to work, their staff had to take ownership of each client. They put into place an incentive for their staff based on their performance of the business.
